No, that’s not a typo in the title. I’ve wondered about Plaid for Women‘s 2015 motto No Mean Girls. What does it truly mean? I know the theme for 2016 is different, and we’re at the end of the year for this theme, but I’ve been wanting to say this:
Let’s change the No Mean Girls concept. Let’s allow mean girls in and help them learn another, non-mean way.
I applaud and enjoy the supportive environment of Plaid, and I want that to stay. Maybe I just want to augment the motto so it’s “Recovering Mean Girls Allowed.”
In her “Mean Girls: Be the Solution” post, Elizabeth Lions talks about each of us solving our part of the mean-girl problem. I take a similar angle in my post “That Mean Girl Voice in Your Head.”
Who else has ideas about how to welcome mean girls (inner and outer) and support them in changing the beliefs underneath that habit? To help them find out what they think, way deep down, being mean is doing for them—such as keeping them safe—and then get that in a healthy, inclusive way? Let’s hear from you on Facebook.
